Code of conduct
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to impress your partner with some hips that don’t lie, or you need a new hobby. Maybe a hobby turns out to be something more. Or maybe you simply enjoy moving to Frankie Ruiz every now and then. Whatever it is, we are glad you found your way into our community.
We care (A LOT) about the wellbeing of our community and want to keep it a safe space for everyone. As a participant of the Bergen Mambo Weekend, we expect you to follow our code of conduct.
safety
We want everyone to feel safe and respected. As individuals, we all have different boundaries that we do not want to be crossed. Here are some guidelines on how to ensure a safe dancing experience:
Ask politely
When asking for a dance, make eye contact and politely ask them if they would like to dance. Never pull someone onto the dance floor without their permission. If they decline, don’t take it personally. Ask someone else to dance instead.Mind your space
We love seeing you pull off some incredible combos and shines, but remember that you are not alone on the dance floor. Make sure there is space for everyone, and that no one gets their toes stepped on.Be mindfull of your partner
Your partner may have an injury, or they might not be as flexible as you had thought. They can be out of energy, or simply not in the right headspace. Don’t push them to do moves that may injure them, or cause them discomfort.Absolute NO-GOs!
This should come as no surprise:
No harassment of any kind!
Community
Dancing should be more than just safe. We dance because we love it! Here are some guidelines on how to contribute to a positive and healthy dancing community:
Dance with everyone
Don’t be shy to ask people you don’t know, no matter your or their level. Be open-minded - maybe it turns out to be the best dance of your life.If possible, say yes when others ask you for a dance, even if it’s not your favourite song.
Smile and say Thank you
Remember to smile! Did you enjoy the dance - let your partner know and thank them.Have a chat
Do you recognize someome from your previous festival, or from yesterday’s social? You don’t need to give a complete life update, but let them know it’s nice to see them again.Use deodorant
Don’t forget to shower and brush your teeth. Also, there is no shame in bringing one or five extra shirts.
